Local Business Overcomes Pandemic with Help from CDF, Foundation Led by Angelo Koo

CDF recently helped Sunrise Wood Workshop redesign a wooden calendar to increase its appeal towards office workers, for example by adding features such as grooves for placing phones and business cards.

Taipei, Taiwan (Business Northeast) – Sunrise Wood Workshop, a tourist-catering business in the city of Taitung, fully felt the burden of the pandemic and had been hard pressed to pay employees’ salaries, much like the many families struggling to make ends meet. With help from China Development Financial Holding (CDF), the workshop was able to overturn the bleak situation.

CDIB International, as chaired by Angelo Koo, is a private equity subsidiary of CDF that also greatly contributed to the cause.

CDF recently helped the workshop redesign a wooden calendar to increase its appeal towards office workers, for example by adding features such as grooves for placing phones and business cards.

Angelo Koo, who is also the chairman of the China Development Foundation, CDF’s charity arm, strongly believes that “education is the most valuable investment for our society.” He helped to incorporate the work of art students sponsored by the Foundation into the calendar, giving the product an additional personal touch while giving the students an opportunity to contribute to the society.

“The students felt a great sense of accomplishment when they saw that their art works were printed on the calendars,” Chang Yi-cheng, the student’s teacher, said.

The practical design of the redesigned calendars was well received by CDF employees, resulting in additional third-party purchases that helped alleviate Sunrise Wood Workshop’s financial difficulties.
